Large Vintage Drum Major Marching Band Rhinestone and Enamel Brooch A very ornate casting. He is dressed in red enamel pants, a blue enamel jacket and white enamel boots and hat. His jacket and baton are decorated with colorful stones, there are missing stones in his belt. His hat and boots have dangling metal tassels. There is some enamel loss. This piece needs love, but is a fun old brooch! Priced accordingly.
The plating on the back side is gone, so there is no marking, but I found an identical one online with an NE in a chalice. This is the mark for the New England Glass Works Co., which later became Rice-Weiner & Co. (Updated with new info) He is pictured on pg 163 of Warman's Costume Jewelry Figurals ID and Price Guide by Kathy Flood, simply called "Drum Major."
